Kids Helping Kids benefits a non-profit organization called the Unity Shoppe. They chose this organization because The Unity Shoppe is really the giving hub of Santa Barbara. The "Unity Shoppe" acts as a year-round resource center to people in our community who are in need of help. They encourage self-sufficiency and independence by providing education and the necessities of life to families, children, seniors and persons with disabilities during periodic times of crisis. Over 288 non-profit agencies, social service organizations, churches, schools and hospitals refer children, families and the elderly to the Unity Shoppe for needed services. In 2008 they assisted over 19,949 people. This service is available to any family who needs help. The Unity Shoppe is able to eliminate duplication of services, goods and funding as they work to prevent problems from escalating. The Unity Shoppe’s goal is to prevent families in crisis from becoming homeless or dependent on welfare services.
