Kids Helping Kids is an entirely student-run and student-organized event. San Marcos AP Economics students have coordinated and orchestrated the Kids Helping Kids Charity Event over the past eight years. Beginning as a mere school-wide penny drive, the effort is rooted in an earnest care for those less fortunate and a simple desire to give back.
Over the past eight years, they’ve raised over a quarter of a million dollars for a local charity, the Unity Shoppe. Just last year, filling the Granada Theater with over twelve hundred guests, the extravagant concert night raised more than $140,000 for the Unity Shoppe. Kids Helping Kids is made up of over one hundred empowered students, who are making a difference from the classroom to the community. They take what they learn in the classroom, and apply it to the real world by making a positive impact on their community.
